Our Philosophy is simple, the DJ is hired to enhance your event, and not be the center of attention. We are very easy to work with, and want to help make your event fun and memorable. We pride our self on choosing the appropriate music for your event and delivering the quality entertainment you expect!  We are most recognized as the DJ's who know how to throw a great party.  Our experience ranges from DJ'ing hundreds of weddings over the past 15 years, DJ'ed in many clubs around town and in nearby cities, corporate events and private parties.

Break Through Entertainment will tailor our recommendations to meet your goals, and help deliver the memorable day you've both imagined.

What We Do...
We don't do anything until we understand who, what, when, where and why from you. Once we have all the facts, then we make recommendations that have been personalized for your Wedding Reception; which is why Break Through Entertainment has been successful.

Our formula is to understand the needs and wants of the Bride and Groom. Then, incorporating what you and your guests want to dance to and mix together a seamless blend of favorites for everybody all night long.

We do not have a pre-determined play list. We will work together, choosing the appropriate music for your Reception. Tell us what music you must have played and what music you do not want and we will do the rest. You are welcome to hand pick the music for the entire event otherwise we can do it for you simply based on your specific taste.

We will coordinate all of your Receptions special moments. During the night of your Reception, we will work closely with the person managing the room, the photogropher/videoogropher, wedding planner and, of course, you to ensure everyone is prepared for the next step throughout the evening.

With more than fifteen years experience, DJ Naps has proven to be one of the best party rocking, well rounded, turntablist style DJ's. 

You know the party is going to be hot and high energy if Naps is the behind the turntables! He plays to each crowd and spins what they want.  His unique style of scratching and blending includes the best in new and old school hip hop, rock, soul, disco, funk, electro, 80's & 90's favorites, top 40 and more.  The crowd always has the best time and will not want to leave the party....wanting more! 

Michael was introduced to music at an early age and has been exploring and enjoying the art form ever since. There has never been a time when he wasn't playing records or listening to music. Growing up, his musical expertise comes from exposure to Hip Hop, Rock, Top 40, Oldies, Big Band, Jazz, and a little bit of Country music. This extensive blend of knowledge has enabled him to provide a forum where customer's desires, needs, and expectations have been met and exceeded time and again creating countless memorable and very special events. Having a wide variety of musical influences has helped Michael become a sophisticated and determined Entertainer catering to all generations and cultures.

Michael joined "Spectrum Sounds" in 1997. As the premiere DJ the company hired, the business became the fastest growing mobile DJ service in Upstate New York. A combination of referrals and dedication accelerated a new, profitable partnership. Michael has since taken this passion and knowledge and has created "BreakThrough Entertainment" delivering a polished product with a personal touch.

As a DJ, Michael started playing music and emceeing at school dances. This rapidly evolved into Weddings, Corporate Gatherings and many other Special Events. Between 1995-99 he was an On-Air Radio Personality and Studio Engineer for 90.5 WBER, a Modern Rock Station in Rochester, New York.

Throughout his college years, Michael had acted as an assistant for The Studios at Linden Oaks (Audio/Video Recording Studios) in Rochester, New York and interned with Warner Brothers/Reprise Records Inc. in New York, New York.

FAQs

Here is a list of some Frequently Asked Questions...

1. Payment schedule. What's the deposit? Are there intervals to pay the rest of the balance?
The initial deposit is typically 30-40%. The balance is due 30 days (or 1 month) before your event.

2. Do you provide a written contract that we both sign?
Yes. We will prepare a written agreement, email it to you in a pdf format (if we do not meet in person first). You will need to sign and mail the contract back to us with the deposit.

3. Do you have professional DJ equipment?
Yes. BreakThrough Entertainment DJ's use any combination of cd turntables and vinyl turntables to mix the music. We use only the most recognized equipment made by: Technics, Rane, Mackie, Pioneer, Denon, etc. We also use Shure wireless microphones, speakers on stands, and a laptop computer. Most of our DJ's use an Apple computer and the Serato (Scratch Live) mixing software. This combination is more advanced then most DJ's in this area. The mixing software is the best in the business! Nearly every major Club DJ across the world has converted to this style of DJ'ing/Mixing and is using this exact software and other similar equipment.

4. Do you have backup equipment in the event something doesn't work?
Yes. All the music is backed up on an external hard drive and cd's which we bring to each event. We also have all the pre-planned music backed up on a second laptop computer, cd's and/or an iPod, which is also brought to each event. We keep all of our equipment in excellent condition and would be prepared if something where to break down.

5. Do you display a banner with your company logo on the DJ table?
No. We do not use banners on the DJ table. We have business cards that are placed on the front of the table for future clients. The venue or catering company typically supplies a white tablecloth. If not, we will bring our own white tablecloth to every event. Also, nearly all of the necessary wires on and the table will be neatly tied together or hidden away in order to maintain a well-organized appearance.

6. What type of clothes do you wear when you're DJ'ing?
For a wedding, we will wear a modern black, well-tailored tuxedo with a closed back vest. Please tell the DJ during the planning process if you would prefer more relaxed clothing or business casual style attire. For other events, the DJ will wear what ever is most appropriate and will be clarified with you during the planning process. Also, our DJ's do not change their clothes or start packing up their equipment until the event is completely over.

7. How much music do you bring to the event?
We bring every song we own to each event and we ensure to have every song you have hand picked throughout the planning process.

8. Are there resources I can use to help me choose the songs for the introductions, first dance, father-daughter, anniversary dance, etc.?
We have a multi page music list we can send you, after you have booked with us, which has a lot of ideas for every dance of the evening and we will help you choose the appropriate song if it is not on the list.

9. Meal service?
The DJ will eat when all of your guests eat. Typically, the DJ, Photographer, Videographer, etc will sit down at the same table (a vendor table) or at a guest table. It is important for the DJ (and other vendors) to eat the same food that is served to your guests and to eat in the same room where all of the action is taking place. Example: If an announcement needs to be made by the DJ or a picture to be taken by the Photographer, etc., we will be readily available.

10. When does the DJ take a break? When do those breaks normally occur?
No, we really don't take a break. The only time we sit down (or take a break) is when we sit down to eat dinner. We stand while we are mixing and announcing as well as moving around the room to help coordinate the next part of the evening with the room manager, photographer, etc.

11. What if I want to extend the party the night of the event?
If you and your guests are having a great time and want to extend the party, overtime rates are to be paid to BreakThrough Entertainment in full prior to the beginning of the overtime entertainment. Overtime rates are noted in the music contract. If the client does not have the full balance prior to the beginning of the overtime, the client must sign an additional contract supplied by the DJ that evening. Please understand this is to protect the DJ and to avoid any confusion between the client and BreakThrough Entertainment after the event.

12. Tipping
Tipping will not be written into the contact. If you feel you have received exceptional service, any gratuities would be taken as a great compliment.
